North Yorkshire Open Studios - Winter 2025

1st -2nd November 11.00 - 4.00 PM

I am pleased to be participating this year as one of the artists in North Yorkshire Open Studios, featuring artists and craft persons from across the region. Glimpse inside our working spaces and have an opportunity to buy artworks directly.

You will find me at the bottom of the garden looking out over fields on the brink of Winter.

The Autumn brought copious full acorns battering on the roof, by November these will have been gathered away or eaten.

Call between 11am and 4pm. You will be most welcome.

The Boundary Way Project

A couple of current poems devised as a result of participation in Boundary Way Writers Group.

Boundary Way Writers Group, is an inclusive gathering of writers of all abilities. The Group emerged from the Boundary Way Project during the Covid 19 lockdown with an aim to help people connect both with each other and nature, meeting via zoom, to share and write poetry.
I am not sure which garden path I have gone down to find myself part of this group, however the way has connected me more strongly with the writing I have always done, I have met and heard new voices, and enjoyed sharing with others from various areas of the British Isles and afar, settling myself into my new location on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds.
Boundary Way Project was Founded in 2015 by creative producer Moya Lloyd and based at the allotments and community Garden in Warstones, Wolverhampton, they work with a collective of artists and educators who forge links locally and across the UK, creatively exploring natural heritage, biodiversity and the unique qualities of allotments.

Lijiang Studios, Yunnan.

Artist Residency. 2019

I was fortunate in being invited to Lijiang Studio during the summer of 2019, this charitable organisation has an international residency programme located in a rural farming village of South Western China. I was there for just over a month, not long, yet long enough to leave a deep impression on me. Returning the Rhododendron, follows this journey of exchange.

North Yorkshire Open Studios - June 2025

Where has the year gone?

At Holly Cottage I have at times begun to feel more like a hamster, driven to hide from the cold easterly wind and sea clouds of Spring.
However an increase of rain earlier in the season has seen the garden flourish, bringing much earthy activity.

This year geometry has called my interest again, generally within the plant world and their wider relationship to the activities within our cosmos. And perhaps more specifically the hexagram in water.

The bigger North Yorkshire Open Studios two weekend event begins 7th June very soon, it will be lovely to see you again, or a visit for the first time:- the studio at the bottom of the garden.
