Life on a Derbyshire hill farm, gritstone peaks and limestone dales mapped the land abundant with flora and fauna. Time measured wind and wuthering, halls and hauntings, quarter days and harvest, nights of deep snow and Queens of the May.

I left Derbyshire many years ago. However it is this connection with landscape and place that inspires me still.

Commissions have invited me to respond to the sense of place or thing, be it location, plant, animal, rock, person or poem. It is a journey of discovery; objective research and reflective intuition combine in a process of gathering and distilling.

A collection of visual references is brought to a conclusion within an artwork, an attempt to convey something of the journey and to invoke a feeling of the essential nature of place, or thing.
